From Superluminon
This was the intro animation-- one of the very few animated sequences of this game. It was meant to set a mood of wonder and excitement towards discovering this new world, and also a sense of curiosity into the character's past and this new setting.
A few things we have changed since then:
- The player character does not start out with all his memories-- which is a cliche in videogames, yes, I know.
- His name will no longer be Jonathan Prince, but Steven Late.
The old article can still be accessed in the history page.
Rough script:
Fade in on a dimly-lit underground cavern, part man-made walls, part natural rock, populated with cryogenic tanks, computers, control panels, and strange blue crystalline formations that refract the low light. The camera pans across part of the chamber before stopping at one tank, which opens with a hiss and a release of white steam. Out of the open pod stumbles Steven Late, a man in his late 20s or early 30s with short brown hair and stubble across his chin and cheeks. He is naked, covered in shadow. The camera zooms slowly in on his face as a voice fills the chamber.
"We have woken you, Late, at the request of our bretheran who are no longer our enemies. Go now to the world and do what you will, for it is right."
The camera zooms out again and rotates, and we are no longer in the cavern, but in front of a boulder at the edge of a cliff, facing west into a spectacular orange sunset. The silhouettes of many skyships move across the horizon.
